As Course Superintendent at Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech I always have insight to share with golfers to improve their experience on the course. If you have a question or comment about the The River, please e-mail me.
With one visit to Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech it is obvious why Golf Magazine recently selected it as one of the best new public access courses in the United States. From elevated tees, the majestic course wraps along 2 1/2 miles of the majestic New River.
We also offer a complete practice facility with a driving range, large putting green, chipping green, sand bunkers, a fully stocked Professional Golf Shop and a complete teaching center. Private lessons or group clinics for all ages and playing abilities are available.
Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech is bisected by a 70' rock cliff, which created the opportunity to build two distinct but complimentary nine-hole loops which start and finish adjacent to the club area. The linear nature of these two nines has allowed 14 of the 18 holes to have views to the river. Eight of these play directly to the river's edge.
Originally designed by Daniel J. Schlegal of Ault and Clark Associates. The River has been newly renovated by world renowned architect Pete Dye. After two years of moving 400,000 cubic yards of earth and constructing 18 new greens... The River reopened on August 21st 2005.
The new layout winds along 2.5 miles of the scenic and historic New River and many holes have been endeared with its presence. Panoramic views are the norm and the passing of an occasional train enhances the beauty of the surroundings.
Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech is a daily fee public facility. Individual and Family Memberships are available and provide a variety of benefits for members. All golfers are invited and encouraged to come experience "The River". Special corporate and group outings are welcome and can be specifically tailored to meet your needs.
