Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech

Distinctively Dye - Distinctively Virginia Tech

Combine the unmistakable design of world renowned course architect, Pete Dye, with the vision and resources of the Virginia Tech Foundation and the results are world class golf. The Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech offers a spectacular riverfront setting in the Blue Ridge Mountains with a traditional links-style layout that is fun and challenging for golfers of all skill levels.

"The River Course" received a near perfect 4 1/2 Star Rating from the readers of Golf Digest magazine in their "Best Places to Play" poll for 2008-2009. The evaluations are based on the total experience, which includes the actual course, the service, the value for the money, the pace of play and the conditioning of the course. "The River" was named in 2006 by Golf Digest as one of "America's Best New Courses" and was #4 on the list of "Best New Remodel" golf courses in the country.

A $5.5 million clubhouse construction project is underway to provide a facility that will be as unique and distinctive as the golf course. The new building scheduled for completion during the first quarter of 2010 will become a venue for not only golf events but also university, private and corporate functions. The building site is perched on a 70' rock cliff above the picturesque New River and will feature "Hokie Stone" and an elevated patio in excess of 4,000 square feet to take in the unforgettable views of the course, the river and the mountains.

The Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech is located between Blacksburg and Radford off Rt. 114 in Southwest Virginia and just a few miles from I-81 and the university's main campus in Blacksburg. The course is also only 45 minutes from Roanoke, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and The Appalachian Trail. Other recreational opportunities in the area include white water rafting, canoeing, hiking, fishing, hunting, NASCAR racing and more making the area perfect for a family vacation or golf destination with your friends.

"The River" shares an affiliation with two of the region's finest hotels - The Inn at Virginia Tech and Hotel Roanoke. All three are owned by The Virginia Tech Foundation and share in a common goal of providing excellence to our guests. There are many other nice hotels/motels within minutes of the golf course.
